Power Oats

This is the ideal breakfast if you are doing a long run, triathlon and also for kids who expend a lot of energy and don't have the patientce to eat. It combines the satisfying fibre of whole oats and the glucose stabilising effect of nut butter and MCT oil. Follow with a protein shake. This recipe makes one serving.


  • 1/2 Cup dry whole-rolled oats (not instant oats of any kind)

  • 1.5 cups hot water

  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

  • 1 tsp sugar free nut butter

  • 1 tsp raw honey


  1. Place the oats in a glass jar. Add the salt and water.

  2. Leave overnight to soak.

  3. When you are ready for breakfast, put the jar in the microwave for 30 seconds.

  4. Take out and stir.

  5. Put back for a further 30 seconds

  6. Add a tablespoon of nut butter and a teaspoon of honey.

  7. Mix well and enjoy!
