Power Oats

This is the ideal breakfast if you are doing a long run, triathlon and also for kids who expend a lot of energy and don't have the patientce to eat. It combines the satisfying fibre of whole oats and the glucose stabilising effect of nut butter and MCT oil. Follow with a protein shake. This recipe makes one serving.


1/2 Cup dry whole-rolled or steel cut oats (not instant oats of any kind)

1.5 cups hot water

1/4 tsp sea salt

1 tsp sugar free nut butter

1 tsp MCT oil

1 tsp raw honey


Place the oats, water and salt in a pot an cook on a medium heat until the oats are completely cooked. Make sure they don't dry out out - add extra water if necessary.

Place the cooked oats in a serving bowl and add the nut butter, act oil and honey.
